Sci Fi conventions

This ongoing project documents the weird and wonderful world of science fiction conventions in the United Kingdom. 

This came about due to Daniel's interest in the genre.  Having visited various events in the past he felt that this colourful world should be recorded.  Beginning the project in 2009 Daniel travelled the country looking for interesting individuals to photograph. 

Whether they be dressed up as  Stormtroopers or Klingons, or whatever their fantastical persuasion, it seems that the basis on which this gregarious group of people put so much into these occasions is at its heart about friendship, of spending time together with like-minded people, in just such a way football fans, music enthusiasts or even theatre goers will appreciate.

The convention phenomenon is huge business in the United States, with events such as the San Diego Comic Con a mainstay on the entertainment industry calendar.  Nothing quite reaches the same level as in America, but the Brits give it a good go.
